Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of healing in the world, and it is one of the main components of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It works on the flow of energy, known as Qi, throughout the body along specific pathways. When this energy is flowing smoothly, the body is in balance and free of sickness. When the flow of energy is blocked, illness or pain appears.

Insertion of hair-thin needles in exact points balances the energy flow and allows the body to begin its own healing process. Acupuncture is most effective if treatment can be given at regular intervals over time because its effects are accumulative. Our goal is to provide this opportunity at a cost within each individual's means.

More professional athletes are turning to acupuncture for pain management, and so do ordinary people.  Professional athletes, such as Maria Sharapova, are known to use acupuncture to manage their injuries. According the Federal Drug Administration (FDA), Americans visit acupuncturists nine to twelve million times a year.

Although acupuncture is known for pain management in this country, it can treat many other conditions. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have concluded that acupuncture is an effective treatment for many conditions.  Acupuncture treatment protocols are available for the the following conditions:

anxiety/stress arthritis asthma back pain circulatory problems
depression digestive disorders dizziness facial paralysis fatigue
gynecological problems headaches high blood pressure infertility irritable bowel syndrome
menstrual irregularities migraines respiratory problems sciatica urinary problems
and more conditions.

At Akashi Acupuncture, we use only sterile and disposable needles for your safety.
